I had a Wicked Time In LOnDon... 10th Nov

I met up with Dawn in London on the 10th of Nov. :> We went to watch WIcked The Musical... which was 'Wicked'!!

'Wicked' is a new broadway musical, which presents the unheard story of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, characters from the classic Wizard of Oz. The Wicked Witch has been known as the antagonist in the orginal story. The Wizard of Oz was about Dorothy, a sweet innocent Kansas girl. Dorothy, by a twist of fate, is transported by a hurricane into the land of Oz. The house she travelled in accidentally crushed a lady known as the Wicked Witch of the East and was subsequently hailed as a hero by people of Oz. As all she wanted was to return home to Kansas, Glinda the Good Witch instructs her to go on a journey to meet the Wizard of Oz, who she says will help Dorothy go home. The WIcked Witch of the West was the evil witch who tries to stop Dorothy from meeting the Wizard of Oz. In the musical, we see the Wicked Witch of the West as a misunderstood individual, who from young was bullied and ostracized because of her emerald green skin. We see how her good intentions were misconstrued and her kind acts condemned by opponents, as full of malice. We see how people can be easily swayed by authority to see a good person as bad, possibly because of the person looking so different from them. Dawn and I caught the matinee. We bought cornish pasties and had them in the theatre. :> then had ice-cream at interval. We were mesmerized by the well-though story-line, witty lines and beautiful songs. The voices were so powerful, every emotion they were trying to express resonated in our hearts. It was absolutely fantastic. :>

Dawn and I then went for a pub meal. :p We had a walk along Oxford street and had some fun in Hamleys the toy shop. Really exciting... they were selling Harry potter wands, demonstrating making snow from magic powder, toys everywhere. It was fun!!

I went to meet up with Despina, who was hosting a house party themed E-vil. You either had to dress up as someone who's name began with E, or be someone evil. I unfortunately was totally rubbish and did not dress up for the occasion. I did have a very good time catching up with De, from the 'E'ighties, Charlotte, who was 'E'nvironmentally friendly, and chatting with Edward Scissorhand, an Energy drink, and Exit sign, and a few Egyptians. A pretty interesting experience indeed :p

The next day, Dawn and I had a ramble around London Bridge area and went to the Tate Modern for a bit. We then went to meet up with a few of my friends... Watson, from Primary school, Therese from Sheffield Uni and Jiamin from my RGS days.

Edale, closest to heaven in the peak district

Gosh I think it was more than a month before that I went to Edale (21st of Oct). I feel the need to post something about it. :p Here are some magnificent photos from that day.

The past few weeks...

My life seems to have taken a turn a few weeks ago. Sudden onslaught of work to do, errands to run, people to meet from all possible aspects of my life. I've barely had time to talk to my mom, do any bit of 'stoning' (in my dictionary means staring into space and not doing anything), or even watch strictly come dancing on tv. haha in some sorts it was an amazing time, just 'diving into things and swimming over wave after wave'.

1) Started my PA job with a family. little boy has CP so I'm to get him ready for school in the morning. That means 6am starts for me, fighting the morning traffic and waiting for buses which never are on time.
2) went to London to meet Dawn and friends
3) Started testing in schools for my research project. I was testing in a school in the next city too. that means more early morning starts to catch the early train.
4) Birthday celebrations
5) had an Autism Symposium to prepare for. It was organized by my supervisor to feedback to parents, children, schools who have participated in our previous projects, and fellow collaborators.
6) My Monday volunteering group starting again (SOUL and FAME) after rising from the ashes, due to management and funding issues.

The waves have stopped for a bit the past few days. As I've been telling quite a few people, I quite enjoyed having some normality back in my life, and being able to fit jogging in, in the morning. I went to ASDA supermarket today just to try out grocery shopping there. Had the weekly rider from having to travel to schools during the week. Not a very short journey at all, about 40 minutes. totally 'stoned' on the way there and back even though I brought my much neglected psychologist magazines with me...

having friends round for potluck dinner. :p making my well-practiced spinach and cheese lasagne again. this time though its without the recipe. bbc for some reason took it off their website. we'll just have to see if my improvization works this time :)
